Gingerbread House

Every year i attempt to make a Gingerbread House .... every year i have been unsuccessful .... until 2011.

I did it .... squeals of delight ... it is amazing ....

I purchased a new mould from the Chefs Toolbox ... it is awesome .... you bake the gingerbread in the silicone mould making for a perfect house to build ... someone also told me that the icing needs to be really thick to ensure it holds it all together.

i had some wonderful little helpers along the way ......

late last night i sat down and stuck it all together (when my helpers were asleep)

this morning it was ready to be decorated

Mitch did a great job with the decorating

then we hand delievered to some special people

we hope you enjoy it MARTIN family xoxox

Another week has passed since my last post ...

.... It was a great week ... My last week of work until the new year ... Don't get me wrong I love what I do ... But after a while of caring for four children 4yrs and under ...... I need a break.

This morning I headed off to the shops to get a new haircut for Christmas .... I like it .....

This afternoon sees us digging up some clay patches in the front yard tom replace them with some nice soft grass for the children to enjoy ... I know Mitch is a big fan ... No more hard tackles on the clay patches.

I posted our new range (Afternoon Tea Party) in the My Heart Flutters shop this week ..... Some truly divine handmade felt food .... At present we have strawberries, apples, tea bags, pasta and donuts ... Many more items to come

This weekend sees me working on another new product line ..... It is still under wraps at the moment until I have finished it ..... They are simply adorable

I will be back a little later with a simple Christmas craft idea that you and your little ones can work on this week .....

Until then ... Take care

A busy weekend

It's beginning to look a lot like christmas ....

Christmas tree is up and decorated ... We have put up our breakable decorations on the Christmas wall .... Christmas carols play throughout the day .....

We finished off our christmas gift list on Saturday ... The shops were crazy busy .... So glad to have it all wrapped and under the tree ....

It was a memorable day for Emma on Saturday ... Very first haircut ... Not as successful as planned .... One hairdresser wanted to charge me $27.00 to trim her fringe and tidy up the back into a cute little bob .... As most of you are aware her hair isn't that long .... We passed on paying $27.00 ... Another hairdresser charged me $5.00 ... So we went with them ... Miss Emma is now sporting a cute little bob.

My Heart Flutters attended the Rock a bye baby markets at Strathpine ... It was a little quieter than normal ... But we still did pretty good ... We have booked in for the February markets .... We are also working on a new range of products called "afternoon tea party" ... We can't wait to show you what this is all about ....

Mitch has been saving his pocket money to purchase the diary of a wimpy kid book number 5 ... He hasn't put it down since we bought it.

Sunday was spent offering around the house in the morning doing odd jobs ... Whilst I was painting my nails a very festive co our miss Emma decided that she would like hers done as well ... Whilst I didn't think it was appropriate ti paint her fingernails I did however paint her toenails ... She sat there like a big girl and was quite proud of her new toes .....

The afternoon was spent at my sisters house enjoying their company ... The kids swam in the pool whilst the adults chatted ....

I finished off some presents for the family day care children to hand out this week ... So happy it is the last week of care ... I love my little fdc children but by the end of the year I am so exhausted .... Looking forward to the new challenges 2012 has to offer ....

Oo am also very pleased that there is no school runs or lunches to organize for the next 6 weeks xoxox

Take care of you and your families xoxo

My baby girl is no longer a baby

Well it is official ...miss Emma is no longer a baby ... She is a walking, talking, self sufficient toddler. She knows what she wants and she wont give up until she gets it. Just recently we had a lot of troubles at bed time ... Lots of screaming and kicking ... Eventually after a few nights of control crying and routine tweaking we got her to fall asleep by herself at 6.30pm. She wakes at 6.00am most mornings and we enjoy some quiet time before the rest of the house wakes. We are enjoying our late afternoon walks to the park before bath time ... This has become apart of our routine ....

Her vocabulary is increasing more and more each day ... Her words at the moment include: mum, dad, ta, bye, hello, shoes, cheese, na na (banana) and our newest word today is baby. I love the way she says baby ... It is oh so cute.

she needs to be kept busy ... Outside play is our favourite thing to do ... Water play, jumping on the tramp, sliding down the slide, playing in the ball pit ... We don't like television ... No wiggles or hi-5 for us .... We read lots of books, draw and enjoy a lovely cup of tea from the tea set ... She loves her brother .... Mitchell is a very hard word to say for an almost 15month old girl ... She has her own little word that she uses instead ... He knows that she is talking to him ... The age difference doesn't appear to be a problem.

I miss my baby girl ... But am loving my little toddler ... I guess she will always be my baby girl

Time flies when you are having fun xoxo

My goodness ... How quick has the past few weeks gone ... I can't believe that Christmas is just around the corner ... Have you organized your Christmas gift list yet .... I started mine the other day ...

Santa arrived at our local shops yesterday ... He was very busy listening to lots of little children .... We gave it a miss yesterday ....

I held a stall at the Rock a Bye children's market yesterday (it was my first real market) .. I had lots of fun and meet some fantastic fellow crafters ... I had a successful day ... Sold out of Ruby and Friends dolls and crayon rolls..... The little peg doll angels were also a success ...
Lots of great comments and kind words from everyone who stopped by ....

I have a busy week ahead of me restocking for the upcoming Twilight Markets at Bounty Boulevard State School ... Am in the process of sewing a big batch of Ruby dolls ... And I must say they are looking delightfully adorable.

If you are in the North Lakes area stop by the Twilight Markets and pick up some great little Christmas presents for your loved ones.

Well i must be off ... Lots to do ...

my baby boy turns eight

wow ... i can't believe that my baby boy is now 8 ... it doesn't feel that long ago that Brendan and I were the proud parents of our first child ... i remember we were proud as punch that we had made this adorable little creature ... he was ours to love and cherish, teach and raise ....

as i look back upon the years i can't believe how much and how big he has grown. i am sure that before we realise it he will be towering over us. we have our moments like all parents and children, but we try and lead him in the right direction and try and teach him to make the right choices ... sometimes it doesn't go as planned ... but we are all still learning ...

he has taught me so much, i can now name every dinosaur, i know all the names of the characters out of cars, i am a master and building lego and i can kick a football (not very well though) ... i wonder what adventure he will take me on next.

Happy Birthday Mitch ... thanks for being you .... we love you very, very much xoxox

Bald Hills State School Fete

It's finished, it's over, no more fete for another two years .... i'm a little sad :( i loooove a good fete and ours was great ....

the p & c put in so much hard work to bring it all together ... they truely are awesome ...

a good friend of mine spent every waking minute of her day organising and then reorganising stalls, rosters and so much more ... she will be glad that the fete is over and that there is not another one for another two years :) ....

the weather held off until the fete was over and then a massive hail storm hit (really BIG hail stones) we had left by then .....

Master 7 was so tired and exhausted ... but very proud of himself for going on the teacup ride 25 times (my head would of seriously been spinning) ... he had a great day ...

The My Heart Flutters stall was a success :) ... it was great to see so many friendly faces and we received lots of lovely comments ...

i promise we will have boy singlets and unisex singlets in stock for our next market ....

speaking of our next market .... My Heart Flutters will be attending the following events in November ....

Saturday, 12th November
Rock a Buy Baby Markets
Strathpine Community Centre
8.30am - 12 noon

Friday, 18th November
Bounty Boulevard State School Twilight Markets
North Lakes

If you are out and about ... pop in and say HI.

i really do appreciate your support in my little crafty adventure.

unfortuantley, i didn't get a chance to take any photos of the stall from the fete yesterday .... but pop back in tomorrow as a certain Fairytale character will be making an appearance.

Take care

Welcome

welcome to the new look My Heart Flutters .....

i have merged one of my other blogs with My Heart Flutters to simplify my life a little. i have so much going on at the moment that i was finding it difficult to keep all my blogspots updated.

so what has been going on in my little world of late ....

1. emma turned ONE ... we held a beautiful afternoon tea party for her with lots of yummy food and pretty decorations.

2. brendan left two days after Emma's party for India for four weeks of work (only three more sleeps until he is home)

3. the children and i moved out and headed to Caloundra for a week whilst new tiles were laid in the downstairs area of our house. it was a mammoth task to get all the furniture out and then back in (thanks to my dad and brother for their help)

4. have been busily creating handmade goodies for the My Heart Flutters stall to be held at Mitchell's school fete on October 15.

5. attending numerous football breakups/presentations for mitchell

the past four weeks has been very challenging for me as i play the role of mum, dad, cleaner, taxi driver, worker and all the other numerous hats i have had to wear ... i take my hat off to all the single mums out there trying to make it work ... i have had moments where i wanted to curl up into the feotal position and cry, wanted to lock myself in the cupboard so the children could not find me .... but then i have had moments where i sit down and look around and think i am truly blessed ... i have a lovely home which i helped create with a man who truly loves me .. i have two beautiful children .... and i have a career i enjoy .... i am not perfect but who is .... i may raise my voice a little at my children but then provide them with lots of cuddles and kisses ...

with all said and done .... i cannot wait until tuesday when brendan arrives back into this country to be my partner in crime .... i have missed him ...

and because i haven't shared any pics of emma's tea party ..... here they are (thanks to Erin Honsa Photography for taking pictures from my girls special day)

(handmade lolly bags)

(emma's party hat ... made by me)

(lolly bags again)

(my georgous girl)

till next time .... take care of you and your loved ones

to market, to market

i finally did it ... i finally worked up enough courage and confidence in myself and my handmade goods to hold a stall at a my son's school market.

for the past few weeks i have been so very busy creating beautiful handmade items whilst children napped. i have never had a stall at a market before so i wasn't sure how much stock i would need or what people would be interested in buying.

so i decided to make a few of my favourite things and i ended up with:

* crochet beanies

* covered notebooks

* handsewn gift tags

* sweet little cakes

* rosy pony bands

* headbands

* hairclips

* ruby and friends dolls

* covered nappy wipe containers

* crayon rolls

so off i headed to set up my very first stall. i was very pleased with the outcome and had a great time .... so much so, that i think i will register for another market within the next few months ... stayed tuned for when and where ...

i will leave you with a few photos of the day

take care

Ruby and Friends

Meet Ruby ....
Ruby was created for my daughter Emma during my spare time on my holdiays..... It was decided that Ruby needed some friends ... so along came Polly, Isabella, Gabriella, Summer, Sienna and Dottie just to name a few.

Ruby and her friends are made out of high-quality fabric, felt and calico and have the most adorable little hand sewn faces. Each doll stands just on 30cm tall and are made with 100% true love.

If you are interested in purchasing a Ruby and Friends doll, please head to our Facebook page for more details.

My Heart Flutters meets Day to Day

I recently contacted the lovely Mel from Day to Day with regards to making her beautiful daughter Bella a hat. Mel and Bella graciously accepted my kind offer. I left the style and the colour up to them to choose and Bella decided that she would like the Scalloped Vintage Hat in grey with a pink flower.

Bella has since received her hat in the mail and Mel has written a lovely post about it on her blog ... http://melissagoodsell.typepad.com/

I wanted to express my thanks to Mel and Bella for letting me create some homemade goodness for them.

Please pop on over to Mel's blog and read her post.

Take care
